Noa is just a girl that's trying to get her life back after losing her sister and kept at a distance by her mother, thus sees too much of Isla in her. That's until she meets Callum, a mysterious boy that pops up in her school and whom she feels instantly drawn to, even if she doesn't want to.
What Noa doesn't know is that Callum is fae, not a faery, fae, as in powerful and scary fae. He's been banished from his own world and is unexpectedly falling in love with Noa, but with every touch or kiss, he takes some of her Light, that he actually needs to survive but without it, Noa can have her own life destroyed.
Callum is not the only Fae in Noa's world and that might be dangerous for both of them. Will they love each other? Will they survive?
I have to admit that this book surprised me a lot, in a very good way. I didn't start it with high expectations but it was like a tornado of words, situations and characters that hit me right through my chest and blew up my illusions of it not being good.
As the first book in a series it's really good because you get to know the characters until the very last paragraph which is not only amazing but also a genius move to keep us readers hooked to the story until the very last second and making us want to read the next instalment of this series... and it worked!
I really enjoyed Noa's depth, she usually keeps her feelings to herself only to later pour them all on paper as poems that are beautiful and meaningful, she's a writer and she's amazing. The love this character has for her family has absolutely no end, she will go through hell to save them and they love her too, especially her little sister. I'm not going to enter into details with other characters because I don't want to spoil your reading experience.
This is a really good book for teenagers, since it deals with identity problems and other characteristic problems, like a broken family that's looking for healing. If you like fantasy and romance this is a great book for you!
