Summary:
With the witch of Doon on the throne, Jamie believed dead, and Duncan and Mackenna trapped in Alloway, Veronica has no choice but to put her grief aside and prepare her remaining followers for the impending battle against the false queen and her forces. But while on a covert mission to steal a powerful elixir from the castle, Veronica discovers her true love may actually be alive, and fighting a battle of his own.
With the Brig o’ Doon destroyed and the portal fragmented, Doon’s forces are not only divided, but also isolated in different dimensions. With the help of a storyteller as ancient as the witch herself, Kenna and Duncan learn they must rebuild the bridge to have any chance of crossing back into Doon with their ragtag army. But when Mackenna insists on fighting as well, Duncan soon realizes the only way he can ensure her safety is to turn her into a cold-hearted killer.
For Vee, Jamie, Kenna, and Duncan, saving their kingdom while keeping their lives intact will take a miracle.

The witch of Doon now sits on the throne, Jamie is believed to be dead and Duncan and Mackenna are trapped in Aloway so Veronica has no choice but to put her pain and feelings aside and get her remaining followers ready for the impending battle against the fake queen and her forces. With the Brig o'Doon destroyed and the portal fragmented, Doon's forces are divided and isolated in different dimensions. With the help of Kenna and Duncan and of a storyteller as old as the witch herself, they learn they must rebuild the bridge if they want to have any chance of crossing back to Doon with their "army". When Kenna insists on fighting as well Duncan knows she'll only survive if he turns her into a cold-hearted killer.
It will be a miracle if Vee, Jamie, Kenna and Duncan are able to save their kingdom while also keeping their lives.
I have to warn you that you'll ugly cry many times while reading this book, but you'll also feel warm and fuzzy inside while you want to sing Scottish happy folk songs, that's the kind of series ending this is! It's utterly amazing!
The characters grow so much and change in a way that feels natural but, at the same time, very difficult and they go through joy and harsh times. It's a mix of emotions that blends into a perfect smoothie of feelings.
I don't want to get into many details because I think that the element of surprise adds to the overall story but I can tell you that this ending was perfect for this series and that it made me want to read it from the start again! It's definitely a must read for everyone out there!
